deanne heron

Deanne Yvonne Heron was born in Jamaica in 1957 and came to England ten years later to join her mother. After leaving school, she worked for the Inland Revenue and then for the local authority.

Deanne attended Manchester Metropolitan University and gained a BA (hons) degree in Public Administration. In 2000, she became a foster carer, which allowed her time to pursue her passion for writing.

She has been writing since she was a teenager (mainly poetry) and has written over twenty comedy short stories about Black family life in England. Many of these stories have been published by The Jamaica Observer newspaper.

Deanne often reads her stories on a number of local radio stations.
